The necks should redden up as they mature. I havoc some of the babies now that have the reddest faces you ever saw. Granted some of the neck necks, necks get redder than others.

They will be 7 weeks old come Thursday. Hard to believe isn't it.

wow yes, its gone fast! I hadnt known that neck changes colors like that too! I had seen that the blacks look redder. those are amazing. I wish I could find the pure black with the all red neck, they are sweet lookin

Hi, tough morning... Woke up to a broken door on one of our smaller coops that housed 4 silkies. Turns out a bear got 3 of the 4. I was wondering if anyone has more info on staggered hatches? I started my 2nd hatch about 6 days ago... This morning I found two more Silkie eggs and would like to put them in the incubator... when the existing eggs go into lockdown, would that negatively impact these two eggs? Should I try or not even bother? Thoughts or any experiences please? Thank you.

So sorry to hear about your loss, @nuklee0 . I hope you get some of your chicks. I'm really glad you asked the question, actually, because I'm doing the same thing. I have three silkie eggs at day 9 and had to throw NINE out because of infertility. :| Other half went and bought some cemani eggs. I can't leave them sitting there till this hatch is over, so I'm going to have to stagger too. As these hatch, the cemani's should be at day 11/12 so I'm going to have be really careful with air sacs. :|

Thanks @Sally Sunshine for the advice!

I love to hatch EE's, always a surprise in color. And I love muffs fluff!

I've got a make that color from the same hatch. I may try a New Years hatch again this year to check for fertility. I'm nearly having to start all over with young stick. The possums nearly wiped out all my hens. The ones left are not laying very much now. I'm lucky if I get 3 eggs a day. The pullets looks like they're gonna take time off before they start laying. I have 10 that should lay anytime now but notta thing yet. I'm still thinking about you and your wanting eggs.
