It didn't take long for the flock to spread out the straw.
I could post a picture of where they were laying this morning, but it would not do the location justice. Eight chickens squeezed between a barrel and the HAH trap, around several pieces of plywood leaning here and there, around some 2x4s, and a tote, then I am not sure. They either were somehow squeezing behind the metal can, or jumping onto it, then diving into a covered litterbox to lay.
The coop wasn't dry when I added the bedding, but there was mud tracked in the nest boxes and on the roost from them wanting to find a place to lay. I put bedding in the dry areas, figuring I will scrape and/or rake tomorrow to prevent a problem.
I just realized that I never put down any DE. I will have to do that tomorrow too.
It didn't take long for them to lay either.
