That was my thought too.... if you have 40 eggs, you should at minimum be getting 20ish eggs a day. Assuming that they don't even lay every day.

My seramas are my only layers right now and only 4 of them are of laying age. I am still getting 1-2 eggs every 3-4 days-sometimes more and that is with 1 infertile and 1 broody right now. Maybe all his hens have gone broody at one and that would solve all the incubator problems since there is a lack of eggs to sit on??????

seramas are ALWAYS broody!!! ugh  I think kiddo has seven broody beasts right now!!!  so many hens and like eight eggs a day!!! dumb things lmao

I feel for you....I've had issues with the following in my coop: black snakes, raccoons, opossums, weasels, foxes and Hawks. I really hope this works and please update us. I've never tried the actual hardware cloth and would be interested to learn more.

God bless,

Glory

dogs had a opossum up the back porch post the other morning 5am. Pellet gun was his weapon choice lol

Aweee! Good someone else who's not afraid to protect theirs by any and all means necessary! Mine is my 22. Rifle works best but pistol does well. 12 gauge is another go to.

it wasnt yet five am and we do have neighbor through the woods lol!!

Ok ok....I understand. I too have a few neighbors through the woods. But I look at it like this...id rather wake them up to save my kids life than worry about them sleeping if it means my baby gets seriously injured or possibly dies. They'll get over it! Yes,all of my animals are my kids.

@Sally - I posted some of the candled egg air cells... there's a total of 28, but the majority look like the ones I shared, there's a couple obvious saddle ones, jiggled ones, I lost 2 eggs to being broken open completely, and 2 with minor cracks that I fixed with liquid bandage (a pip hole style crack, so maybe salvageable.)

Any personal suggestions on shipped eggs besides the upright thing? I was planning on turning them starting on monday, putting them into the incubator tonight before bed and just leaving them alone over the weekend.

Since there's so many of them, I was going to candle them in small chunks every few days. (like around day 5, 6 7, candle each line seperately, remove any that are dead, etc.)

What's the best way to do a bigger batch?

this is exactly what i do in there sweetie!!  treat each egg differently if it is different than the others

Our hen,Brownie has 7 chicks!! Another is hatching now and the 9th I'm not sure is alive. How long should I give this egg before I .......sadly rid of it? Will share pics later. Have errands to run. Waaah boring!!!

Congrats on the precious babies!!!!!

Y'all crack me up on here....I'm definitely in the other category as well.
