We just lis one of our chickens to a chicken hawk.It ripped the head clean of the poor thing. My dad is out there with the shotgun ready for it to come back to get it.

glass loses heat very easy, you might put a wanted add on craigslist or free cycle to see if anyone had a free cooler. I received a bunch of really thick Styrofoam meat coolers that way. :)
I have a foam "door" for the front glass. Glass is easier to clean, and I want to see if this works.

@Sally Sunshine the temp is up to 100.4!!!!!! Whoop whoop!!!! I am going to go back and check it in an hour just to make sure it's stable. I might have to drop the temp if it goes over!!! ;)

The black spots are coming in!!! Here is a chick I had who was born with out spots, then they appeared, like a dalmatian.

as a baby and when she got older...

Uglybator on this hatch, with updated wires!

Uglybator interior, I put shelf liner over the wire when they go into lockdown. (the thermometer is running low because I just turned the eggs AND it's not calibrated.) ;) The actually sensor is that little red thing at the top of the cardboard carton.

these were the original wires we used on Uglybator. Eeek! Some of them were duck taped together. LOL

Me too!    Here I am..catching up again for the day...    Always always wanted a horse of my own.  Couldn't happen.  But, I was lucky in my younger years.  Believe me, I found horses to ride!   I have great memories of riding up along the foot hills along my favorite mountain, and through corn fields and river beds in the river bottoms.  Loved it!

I love riding so much too! It is great fun! :D
