Humm... So you put in turner first that isn't an incubator? How does that work? Are you 'righting' the air cells this way?
Sorry to be confusing. I have an auto turner in the incubator (and now a 2nd bator for a hatcher). What I do is keep 2 racks off the auto turner for the shipped eggs, because I have had a LOT of detached/rolling aircells of late. When I receive eggs, I let them rest at room temp for ~12 hrs, give or take. Then I put them in the bator in the still racks upright. The rest of the racks are on the turner, and after 3 or 4 days I will switch the shipped ones to the turner. Sorry for the confusion!

hmmmm have you search here on byc yet? I have never had that in all the chicks I have raised. are you giving vits? he does it all the time, not just hot in the brooder? Maybe it just needs some extra vits and a pinch of brown sugar in the water for a boost for those little muscles? its vent is clear?

if you didnt try all that, maybe just give him time to gain strength in wing muscles

Ah, thank you! :)

Catching up. Can't respond to any, but no matter, Sally always helps in big ways.
Loving the chick photos.
Feeling sad about Paris. Prayers for sure. I hear that we are on a high alert now..not sure if that is true.

Sally, I have a question for you. Or two. One is embarrassing. I'll go with embarrassing first. Not to with hatching! Is there a way to delete our posts that we don't need to see anymore on our profile page? I know to hit the x when I don't want it as subscribed. It's probably stared me in the face all of the multiple times I've gone in there to try and erase old old thread posts. :/

And, I remember you saying something about the best way to hatch those dark Marans eggs. Should have paid attention, I just got some from a friend, nice dark ones. I have tried a couple of times with shipped eggs, not real great success at all. You said..more humidity? Higher temps? ??

Good to know. I only let my last shipped eggs sit in the incubator for 24 hours before turning. I have more coming so I will probably let them sit at least another day before turning on the egg turner

Went out to help clean the coop and nest boxes. DH always helps, does the coop part, I do the nest boxes part..here he comes with the shavings bag. I say wait, I am on my way to do the boxes. He says, I got them all. I ask, the bottom ones too?!? Yep. Aww, what a sweetheart. He knows my right side of my neck, and that shoulder have been killing me. Now I can take it easy before our son comes down to visit from up north of the state. Can't wait. :)

18 more maran eggs

ETA: I got more Marans eggs because of the 4 I have hatched... 2 are for sure cockerels, the RSS baby is finally growing, and his comb is now growing suspiciously quick, and the only pullet is a mix I think. Her chest is barred black/white. Oh, and the D'uccle is also a boy, but we're keeping him! He's too cute!
