Years ago, my wife and I were out to dinner with friends and she ordered duck appetizers. I told her not to and she said she likes duck at home. I said please don't, you're not going to like it. The waiter brought out the plate and she took one bite, spit it out and said "this tastes like @$$!!!!" The whole restaurant went quiet, could've heard a pin drop. LMAO
hahahahaha.. have to say everytime mom brought one home from the asian market I had sandwiches that night.. but I think its more how it was cooked for my liking than just being duck.

I've had duck only once in my life. Ordered pressed Manderin Duck @ a restaurant in Georgetown (D.C.) after our senior prom in '62. Oiliest meat I've ever tasted.

Properly cooked, it is great eating and I will stuff myself. Cooked too done, may as well feed it to the dogs. We eat a lot of wild fowl. We like to take whole pintails or mallards, pluck and brine them, season and roast whole on the smoker. The jerky from the geese, is gone as quickly as I can make it. I can tell you a long time ago, I was very reluctant to make jerky out of goose. Just didn't sound right to me. But after I did the first time, I gladly take birds when the guys I hunt with don't want any.

I don't doubt it one bit. Over cooked and drowning in grease. Yep that why I won't order it out.
