I don't have quail rails.
I did this on the NY HAL and it was interesting to me that none of the eggs that were placed in the rails hatched.
I kept them separate from the ones in the improvised cups/water bottle tops.
For lockdown I put them upright in a container, with a coupla paper towels moistened to keep humidity up.
