@Pensmaster

Most everything can be found at a co-op. Surely I would think there would be some around where you live. Maybe start looking on the net for feed mills as well. Trust me, this is the way you want to buy and not from the chain "farm" stores. The only thing on the diet that may not be available from a regular coop is the Brewers yeast. It is astronomical if you order it online, over $60 plus shipping for 20# (I just looked online). Feed mills usually run about a $1 a pound or $20 for 20#. Don't fret if you can't find it, you can substitute feed grade milk powder pound for pound.

Here is another example of cost, today corn closed at $3.67/bushel and a 40# bag of corn from a chain store will cost you $6.99, current TSC online price. Do the math..... A bushel is 56# and you can still buy 100# cheaper than TSC.

So anytime you can buy from a feed mill or coop, you are way better off. Shelf product is normally superior to the chain farm store so-called equivalent. And not to mention, they deal feed like normal people. Who the he!! thought of 40# sacks??????? I will almost guarantee you can buy a better grade feed in 50# sack for the same price of the chain store 40#'ers.

That first $2 in a sack of feed, you are paying for the sack. Just to throw away or burn.
