Im sitting here watching a chick be born, and I have pcos so I am a sterile hen in real life lol, and this is somehow super moving to me. Like a surrogate for something ill never experience.

IMO, hatchers need to work on that LaMaze breathing as well. Watching the miracle of life is... well... it's miraculous, whether it's in the hospital labor and delivery room, or in the incubator. Not to make light of human birth, been there, done that... first one at home during my granola years. But, watching the development and birth of a chick is ... miraculous. So, enjoy it, marvel at it, jump up and down, scream out the window, call someone!!! Or tell us here! We understand!!!

I whole-heartedly agree. My favorite was watching my polish hatch. They created such a huge zipper in the shell, I could physically watch them make their little turn, hit the shell, turn again.... repeat over and over. I was glued to the incubator window.

Don't try a new hatch 'til you get the temp fluctuations straightened out (likely a new thermostat), a good hygrometer, and an extra thermometer or two, plus a way to add water if needed without opening the incubator.

It sounds like you are doing exactly what you need to be doing. This is when they reward you from the great job you did taking care of them up to this point! Just breathe! Plus, we love photos, you can always take extra time to post pictures!
