Back in the day, toilet paper rollers came with instructions. The correct way, is over.

I got this one. Place the tube on the vanity with the bottom of the tube near the edge (left edge if you're right handed), then press down with the heel of the left hand on the bottom of the tube. Do this 'til the tube is near empty (not all at once, Dummy), then pull the bottom of the tube over the vanity edge, forcing all the tooth paste to the top of the tube, while making sure the cap is screwed on securely. Got that?

I agree with the seat being down. But know I'm having to rethink it. If mist can travel 6 feet, you know some is still coming out and when it settles, it's landing on the seat. So it would make sence to leave the seat up so you'd have less backsplash on it when you sit down. Oh no. You've just made me have to work the rest of the day experimenting in the John..

It only travels a foot with the lid down.
