Incredibly helpful.

No need to thank me.

'Specially when it makes reaching it harder  :th

I don't give two craps about how it is on the roller or if it's on the back of the toilet but it has to be good toilet paper. None of that cheap rough thin stuff. That's where I draw the line.

Now, my wife goes bazonkers if it's not over the top. It can't roll from the bottom.

OK, first of all, THANK YOU @Sally Sunshine for your quick response with the link for cleaning eggs. I needed to read it, get it done, and then rush to work to make a meeting, so I couldn't thank/update until now.

Before I washed, I candled, so I wouldn't bother washing those I would be tossing (results below). Then I washed the ones I decided to try to set in water laced with the correct amount of bleach at between 100-115F (microwaving throughout to keep water hot enough). I was as careful as I could to keep them upright and not jiggle them - they WERE coated in broken egg after all. They are currently resting next to the incubator at room temperature in clean plastic cartons, fat end up.

Of 33 eggs sent:

13 arrived broken (one subtle and noted on candling)
4 were very porous and/or soiled -> discarded

Of the remaining 16 that I'm going to try to set:

3 with jiggly air cells (saddle, I think - hard to see)
2 with rolling air cells (end to end)
1 had the air cell broken into two "bubbles" and completely mobile
All remaining had saddle air cells of varying degrees

As I said, all were washed and dried gently and are sitting with fat end up. I understand that with the air cell condition of these, I should incubate upright and NOT turn, at least for the first 24-36 hours in the 'bator, and depending on how the air cell looks, perhaps the entire time (+/- hatching upright). I am off to re-read the Shipped eggs-Change of plan section of Hatching 101 for the 13th time, but any comments/sharing of experience would be welcome. (There's also a lot of bad stuff about NOT turning as well - guess it's all a risk with shipped eggs!). We'll see what happens.

Sally, here are some representative saddle air cell photos.

(Yes, I got a refund, and we had a good discussion about shipping and what could have been improved - I shared your links.)

Dumbledore went for his follow up vet appointment, and is doing super well, but will need to stay inside a bit longer because of a deep wound that is healing well but slowly because of its size. Meanwhile, the girls are really missing the attention - Lissa squatted for me when I was just changing out the waterer! So, especially as I'm not sure I'll get anything out of these shipped eggs, I'm considering doing a little match-making between one of my Naked Neck boys and these girls. I already wanted to do the cross, and this way, with Dumbledore inside (what he doesn't know, won't hurt him), there might be less upset and drama (he is very protective of his girls). That would mean more hatching, of course. (Dang, this IS addictive!!!!)
