than the large end of the egg when set in the
incubator. An embryo orients during incuba-
tion so that the head develops toward the
large end of the egg where the air cell is
located. A chick’s head can orient away from
the air cell of the egg if the small end is
higher than the large end during incubation.
An embryo oriented in the wrong direction
will not hatch.

Could be...

Happy Sunday everyone. I have been out of town the last few days. Went to Palm Desert and had 85 degree weather, wearing shorts and sun screen. Came back to 50 degree rain and wind. I like the rain, I don't like the wind.

I'll be a day late in candling, but I'll take care of that tonight.

New incubator arrives on Monday, so hopefully temps will be easy to regulate for lock down on Tuesday.

Ok, I'm heading back about 50 pages to catch up.

Happy Hatching!!.

I have some good news and some bad news.

Good News:
I got 6/7 chicks today.
Bad news:
2 of those 6 don't look so good! ;(

@casportpony , @TJChickens , @Phage :

Regarding R-Com turning - I have an R-Com 20 Max. At first I was using the universal rails - and because it plays the little song when turning, and because I'm compulsive, after I set I would get up and watch it turn the eggs. The eggs were NOT always being turned effectively and consistently with that set up. I got a rush shipment of the chicken egg shaped insert (not included) from Strombergs, (turning by hand as needed in the meanwhile) and put it in on day three. I've been watching it, and it has turned each egg very well and consistently every single time since. You do need to set the tray in firmly so each "position" has good contact with the turning belt.

The 20 egg tray is rated for chicken or duck eggs. I STRONGLY recommend getting one. Without it, I was really disappointed. With it, I've been delighted so far.

Just my experience.

Edit to add: Phage, they also have an insert for larger eggs. (There's also a quail one as well).

you know the timing of the others at hatch from internals to externals to when they were ready and out.

how do these fall in that????  there nostriles are free and clear of fluids?  pics help us

Im not sure what you are asking me... sorry.
The 1st egg hatched in 19 hours from when I first saw movement and then a pipping/crack.
The 2nd egg hatched in 36 hours from when I first saw pipping/crack in shell.
Is this what you are asking?
The 4 eggs that are pipping (not advanced movement/pipping in 10 + hours) now have been pipping for 2.5 and 3 days now!!

the egg on the right is the one that has some oozing (for lack of a better word) coming out of a crack, and looks dried now!
