Good morning Friends

I apologize for the quick ditch, If anyone needs anything let me know.

After sitting way too long through the story of how DH got 4 points on his drivers license last night and asking him to to make restitution by way of his pocket change jars, (ALL of them for the past 15 YEARS) I made the pup collars and decided to start with Thanksgiving prep. So I did some baking. And then passed out after some writing at least that's what I remember.

No puppies yet, I am watching her temps she is down to 99.4 but I only just started taking her temps,

its day 61 for her, when I first started taking temps for whelps it was day 55 and drove myself insane! Its alot like incubation

the more you do it the less stressful it becomes, but I know the signs, I know the look and the feel of the belly and so forth. Anyways, once drops below 99 degrees typically closer to 98 they whelp in 4-6 hours, I have read longer, but for all of mine as its dropped low and as temp climbs back up they start popping out with the aid of some oralcal.

whelping is pretty cool and puppies are.... well they are cute!

this was a temp chart from another litter

I know Some of you seen some of my babies already so ignore

I have 12 Ameraucana and 4 Black Copped Marans following a week after them.

I am picking up my LAST shipment of Black Copper Marans today at the post office. They will be set on Thanksgiving evening.

Yesterday I got my first Pullet egg from one of my Cream Legbars! YAY

This is GREAT NEWS!!!!! and congrats on the legbar!!!

How do u know when a chick has leg problems or is just learning to walk and is clumsy?
Try to figure out if it's just one leg. Unless you know for sure you've got a real problem, you can observe for 24 hours. It often corrects it'self in that time. I've even had curled toes (on the one and only baby to ever have the issue (was an assist) self correct in 24 hours.

Ok my last post never posted so I'm typing it again. The Banty that I've been waiting for to lay an egg has been living with me for 22 days the one that as soon as she lays I was going to start incubating eggs from. I went out tonight to do my coop check and there laying an egg a message from god to fire up the incubator ( atleast that's how I see it). I'm going to wait a few more days and pray for more eggs. I would hate to set just one egg but we will see.
You might want to wait until her eggs are a bit bigger and she is laying more frequently. Have you checked fertility in that egg? Definitely don't set a single egg, as single chicks are often socially mal-adapted and don't blend into the flock later.

Mine too. My araucana only 1 made it to lockdown. The other one DIS after day 14 :(

But the Marans are go getters! Of the 16 I placed, at day 14 (today) 9 are still alive!

Go eggies! I think I'm going to order another batch aND do a staggered hatch. I have 2 incubators now so I think I can make it work.

ok here's an update all 7 of my babies hatched all of them look good except 1 has curled toes not sure what to do with it seems healthy otherwise.
@goinginblind how is the chick falling backwards? did you give it electrolytes and vits?

Uhm... carbon date the shell fragments?

WAIT WHAT????????????????

FONT 72 BOLD RED

My colored eggs where not very exciting to candle. The pink one looked just like a normal egg in the pics I took, and all i could see was air cells in the red and black eggs. Oh, and the sniff test didn't work either. They just smelled like Sharpie.
I will just have to wait and see if they hatch.
