My colored eggs where not very exciting to candle. The pink one looked just like a normal egg in the pics I took, and all i could see was air cells in the red and black eggs. Oh, and the sniff test didn't work either. They just smelled like Sharpie.
I will just have to wait and see if they hatch.

Quick update on my next hatch. I had 16 eggs shipped from Texas. They had a rough life and it got worse when we experienced the big wind storm. I candled tonight and I'm down to 7. And 2 are questionable. 5 for sure are growing but that is all. Still have a long way to go

Mine too. My araucana only 1 made it to lockdown. The other one DIS after day 14 :(

But the Marans are go getters! Of the 16 I placed, at day 14 (today) 9 are still alive!

besides I don't know how to candle eggs (tried with muscovie's eggs and gave it up) I just leave them and wait. I like surprises! it is never too late to throw away the rotten eggs. what if you don't see well and there are chicks in there?

My two assisted died overnight. They never got fluffy and I think they got too cold, being separated from the others. I'm sad but it happens.

Other eggs are dead silent, and 16 happy chick's in the brooder

Good morning Friends

I apologize for the quick ditch, If anyone needs anything let me know.

After sitting way too long through the story of how DH got 4 points on his drivers license last night and asking him to to make restitution by way of his pocket change jars, (ALL of them for the past 15 YEARS) I made the pup collars and decided to start with Thanksgiving prep. So I did some baking. And then passed out after some writing at least that's what I remember.

the more you do it the less stressful it becomes, but I know the signs, I know the look and the feel of the belly and so forth. Anyways, once drops below 99 degrees typically closer to 98 they whelp in 4-6 hours, I have read longer, but for all of mine as its dropped low and as temp climbs back up they start popping out with the aid of some oralcal.

whelping is pretty cool and puppies are.... well they are cute!

this was a temp chart from another litter

I know Some of you seen some of my babies already so ignore
