My current roo is a sweetie too. He loves his hens and I've never had an issue with him and my kiddos. Are you sexing your new hatchlings? I have guesses on mine based on their tail feathers (or lack thereof).

Yeah same here. I know not all breeds can be sexed that way though. I though for sure my BCM was a male because it took forever for her to get her feathers in but he turned out to be a she. I'll have to research on the orps and brahmas. There are definitely some getting feathers quicker already. They aren't even a week old yet :)

Ur, maybe she's delivering one now! Can't wait to see. :p
You know she'll be posting pics up as soon as they arrive. I'd prefer them to be "after" pics, and not "during" pics. I've raised many litters of pups, and it's fascinating to see them come into this world, but some may not find it so fascinating. Just saying...

Have you candled her to see how the pups are doing???

Just had a foster dog of mine (rescue dogs rock) attack a chicken...I knew there was a chance. It was a roo I needed to cull anyway, but he injured not killed it. Now I can't find the dang bird to end it's misery. Where do injured chickens go? Trees? Under cover??

I have to agree, doesn't bother me, but may some. It scared me at times too, had one in her first litter not make it. My poor DH was trying almost everything to get it to breath. Pretty sad. But she had six healthy ones. So, I was a bit nervous the second time, but things went well. She had them fast the second time! One right after another.

Last litter I had .. last yr. Mom a Golden R. Dad a Standard Poodle. Yep, Golden Doodles. Love them.

These little ones are from her first litter. She has had two now, not sure if we will breed again.
Thinking not.

My hubby made a brooder box for them...Went through a lot of newspaper, and put several different clean blankets down by the little door way.
Thinking this will make a great brooder for some chicks this winter until they are feathered out enough to go outside.

I could hear them downstairs playing in this thing, but when they heard me coming down the stairs, it would get quiet, then, they would hurry over to the corner of it and be waiting. :) I miss puppies. :)
nothing yet!

I am not hatchging eggs at this time but I have some RIR harching eggs if any one us interested give me a pm. And Thanks.
THANK YOU @Loud Hen

Oh dear, good luck on finding the poor guy.

I used to foster and rescue. That's something I had to stop and think about before breeding. I really loved every Golden Doodle I saw. It would be great if it could be a breed. Probably won't ever happen, but you never know. Anyway, I made sure that the people buying knew what they were getting. Big dogs! And, that you usually don't have a real .. what most people consider, a good dog...until it reaches 2. They can act like pups for a long time, big puppies. Nice thing about Golden's, they aren't barkers. At least not mine. I've had three now. She likes to dig though. :/ The only one we've had that has done this.
