Just had a foster dog of mine (rescue dogs rock) attack a chicken...I knew there was a chance. It was a roo I needed to cull anyway, but he injured not killed it. Now I can't find the dang bird to end it's misery. Where do injured chickens go? Trees? Under cover??

If mine ever get scared or chased and are able to get away it is hard for me to find them. They hide and can be so still that they don't make a sound. I lost a OEGB a while back for 3 days, I thought for sure she was a gonner. On the night of the 3rd night, there she was roosted with the others. I swear she came back from the dead.

Sally, about the only way I'd plan on putting anything else in the bat or is if I find a good line of cream legbars that I can drive to, not ship. Been wanting to start a pen of them. Other than that, unless somebody wants some custom incubating done that'll be it until January.

Oh dear, good luck on finding the poor guy.

I used to foster and rescue.  That's something I had to stop and think about before breeding.  I really loved every Golden Doodle I saw.  It would be great if it could be a breed.  Probably won't ever happen, but you never know.  Anyway, I made sure that the people buying knew what they were getting.  Big dogs!  And, that you usually don't have a real .. what most people consider, a good dog...until it reaches 2.  They can act like pups for a long time, big puppies.  Nice thing about Golden's, they aren't barkers.  At least not mine.  I've had three now.  She likes to dig though.  :/   The only one we've had that has done this.

My pets(dogs and cats) are rescues right now. I mean, there is many dogs/cats/other in need of rescue instead of buying from a 'breeder', but I don't have a problem with responsible breeders. It's things like puppy mills that I don't like. :)

This is what I do too. All my chicks get an immune boosting tea on day one, followed by grass clumps, fermented feed and clabber.
I put them out on the ground in a day pen when they are about a week old. Haven't had any cocci yet. I think the biggest cause for cocci is wet, unsanitary conditions. I don't like to feed medicated feed, I think it reduces their natural immunity.

awesome is it a serama? :highfive:

Nope, it's one of your big blue egg mixes: ) I did accidentally knock off the loose part of the shell when I picked up the egg but I had a little mist bottle with hot water in it that I misted the membrane with and the 'bator to keep it moist.

Mine is still solid according to DH. I will let in soak in a hot tub (aka kitchen sink) all day while I make pies. 24+ lbs. Butterball. Homegrown heritage next year.

I have friends who don't eat meat. They have tofurkey. I have not tried it. The first year (of many) she made it, she called and asked my opinion. It is this little meatloaf size thing and said it serves 12 to something. I said that was because everyone only needed a tiny bit....oh no, that's plenty for me. Lol

Already suggested, but buy an already roasted chicken or turkey breast, already prepared potato, squash, and then all you need is an other veggie to go with it.  The only thing I'd splurge on to make from scratch is cranberry sauce, but... that's super easy!  Cranberries, splash of apple juice, bit of orange zest, sugar and cloves.  boil till they pop and get soft.

:lau   My SIL and BIL were vegetarians for a while.  He'd bring his tempeh culture to continue perking on top of my fridge when they visited.  Every now and then, they'd just have to break their veggie vows and go have a big Mac attack!  When she went to the hospital to deliver her first baby, they sent her peas and carrots at every meal, "b/c she was a vegetarian!"  Totally clueless dietician!

:drool

I start them on a plug of sod from my yard after they've started eating well.  Get them on fermented feed early on.  Never had issues with it.  If you do have issues with it... IDK.
I love tempah and tofu! Tofurky, however, is DISGUSTING!
