My incubator was over $40, then the turner was over $40 then the fan was almost $40, so $120 later I have a Bator I still can't depend on.. I'm considering buying a good one or making one with a quality thermostat and no Styrofoam
The better you can go, the less frustrated you will be.

It's been more than 24 hours, so I'd remove some shell (ONLY SHELL) frrom around the pip area to check for viens and if I didn't see any, opem the membrane a little bit to be sure it's getting plenty of fresh air. That may be all the help it needs...
I did that and then accidentally snagged a bit of membrane and it bled a little, so there's still veins apparently. Hopefully the little bit of bleeding won't hurt it.

Hello everyone! I am a first time chick hatcher and need some info. 14 days ago I set 11 eggs from my girls. I candled a couple of days ago and removed 4 that were not fertile. 2 of my eggs are from a rather small americauna hen. As I have been candling I have noticed that those 2 seem to ge growing a bit more quickly and today one of them moved on its own. My plan was to shut off the auto turner on Saturday which would be day 19 but now I don't know what to do about this egg that is already moving...any help would be greatly appreciated!
If they seem to be developing faster than the others you might have hot spots. Are you using a still air or forced air incubator? Still airs are more likely to have hot spots but I've heard forced airs can sometimes have them too. Moving the eggs in different positions around the incubator so they're not always in the same spot will help. I wouldn't worry too much about them developing a little faster, just put them into lock down day 18 and they might hatch a little bit earlier than the others.

I had help getting the brooder ready. I can't stop checking for pips already.
Making crushed shavings instead of flakes?
Yeah, a little bit. Then I showed her how to use her hands. When I pulled her out - and got the bedding off her clothes- I covered the crushed stuff.
