Your missing what I'm saying. Why give all your energy and basically your life to somebody for there gain? And kick you to the curb when they are finished with you. No matter how much money they pay you, you still will be broke. Ever heard the saying, the more you make the more you spend. When I lived in FL when I was young I was out on an older couples boat. I had a nice talk with the guy. He told me something that stuck with me forever. He said if you ever want to make it in this world you have to do what you love and on your terms. You will never ever get rich working for anybody. I've done both in my life. I've been a musician my whole life until I got into farming. I regret nothing. I'll never be rich, but have a house over my head and food on the table. I think I went on a tangent, but I'll leave you with this quote. Think about it.

The mystery of humane existence lies just not finding away to stay alive, but finding something to live for.

Sorry to everyone else that is still dealing with winter temps and other signs of winter, like snow.... Haven't you had a pretty mild winter so far?

Yes, my chickens prefer our cooler weather. It gets creative trying cool things down in the summer.

You cant just jump in to what you want to do though. Thats why i am working here in the summers till i can afford to move to montana and get a job working with animals as thats where my passion is. Ive just always loved animals. Especially birds. I remember last year in like 10 minutes i got a humming bird to perch on my finger.
I also went down to montana last summer to help my grandparents build their cabin. There i had a chipmunk eating out of my hand.
So i know for sure i want to do something where i work with and around animals. Like at a hatchery or at an aviary

I think for hatchery workers they cant keep chickens

Is this correct yall?

More by the minute. Here's another external pip away from the air cell. If you look carefully, there's a little red tinge (blood presumably) on some of the crack seams. Another of that pullet's eggs. (I had wondered if this would be a problem.)

Lots of peeping - I can hear them two rooms away if I listen carefully...

- Ant Farm
I blew the pic up really large and didn't notice any blood. The edges of the cracked shell look white to me. I think it'll be fine as long as it's able to move around and zip from that end. Might need some help, but that's still a ways off... so best of luck. GO CHICKIES!!!!!!!!!

Having personal chickens could pose a serious threat to the hatchery chickens, so it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't allowed. Bio-security must be the #1 priority for those facilities. Just an opinion, and not based on anything other than common sense... if I had any.

How could that pose a serious threat to the hatchery chicks?

Well I don't do things like the norm. I do just jump into things. It's been good and it's been filled with bad. But learned a lot along the way. Again I've worked jobs just to get by. Maybe you should start an animal rescue center of some sort someday. Sounds like you would be good at that.
