I had both extremes. the cheapest 4" I could find for the hatcher and the dust overwhelmed them after about 18 months. I then bought the highest 4" CFM I could find. They were so powerful, I didn't have a power supply large enough to run 4 of them. I split them and run 2 at a time with a toggle switch.

Would that be big enough to hold a Hovabator turner?
I want to make one for the Old Folks Home behind my house and I don't want to trust them with hand turning.

I'll have to look for one at a flea market or craigslist since I refuse to give Walmart any money.

I've had good luck with them. There is a slightly cheaper version

that doesn't have as precise control I used in the hatcher but I'm replacing it with another STC-1000 and use the old one in a brooder.

I've used a couple similar to the following shipped from Bulgaria that worked precisely but they didn't last more than a year or so.

I haven't used this one but it does have a digital display

I may try this one that ships from the US.

That would be great but hawks usually avoid the place now so I haven't seen the activity in a long time.
I occasionally carry a camera but it would have to be someone that can dedicate weeks to laying around watching for an attack.

I'm sure you're right. I thought of that but I haven't raised them. So I didn't recommend since I didn't know how well they play with other chickens. I guess Shamo and Malay may fit the category of not playing well with others.

Thanks Canoe!

That's whut I'm looking fer
I can never find them with the other lightbulbs
They sell a lamp resocket kit
But I don't want that
I want the ceramic ones
What section did you find yers
they were in the lightbulb section by the lamp parts. They only had two of the one kind and I took both when I was there so it might not be something they have a good stock of.

Of course! The liquor stores about in the same shape, I guess.
I saw a bit during that big snow 2 weeks ago about all the babies that get born 9 months after a big storm like that! Lots to be said for that!
When you go to the state store bring me some jack please I am just about out.... thanks!

We used separates for each fan, I am not sure I have any for these two coolers, may need a trip to good will and salvation army soon!

@ChickenCanoe cases can certainly be individual. I have a gamehen that attacked her flockmate viciously during their initial transportation to the property, separated from the start. The roo that came with them will fight my ameracuana if he ever gets out but their offspring
400

is the one that free ranges with the rest of the flock and he's second in command. He and the ameracuana seem to have an understanding with flock control and security, its pretty amazing. I do keep an eye on them daily. He is game after all but the dynamic is still pretty incredible.

we just go out in the crap and buy our booze and cigs. No Fear...
...yes Sally I have a heated waterbed and a wife who knows how to use it...

cigs yuks I swear since I quit I hate it even more than when I was a kid!
heated waterbed!!!!! never slept in one of those! I like a firm bed not all mushy, are they mushy? And I get hot and then cold and hot and cold, I would probably like it and then complain I am hot in ten minutes, just like a hot tub, in and awwwwww and get the h3ll out right away.

pretty too!

looks a lot like yesterday huh
this is today?

Before bed I decided to add a sponge-cloth soaked with water in the incubator to help with the humidity. (Lesson learned - no matter how fancy your incubator, have a back up plan!). That seems to have helps a lot, humidity was 71% this AM - and I woke up to an incubator full of 9 peeping chicks, with one more zipping! I don't know why I bothered with the baskets - they were climbing all over the place, can't tell who is who. So I quickly got the 7 dry ones out and into the brooder. The wrong position ones that pipped are still alive - they are enlarging their pip holes (some movement seen), and one that pipped toward the "floor" was rocking. (I think they were encouraged a lot by being climbed on by the other babies). I actually have a mild migraine today (probably why I was so tired and confused last night), so I need to go lie back down. But I'm hoping these last little ones make it out on their own. I will re-read the assist article again, of course, but won't be doing anything until this afternoon/evening (which would be about 24 hours). (It's day 21.) So, 10 babies out, three more pipped in wrong position, unsure about the last two. Babies are resting quietly, tired out from all their spelunking over eggs. @Sally Sunshine Meanwhile, one of my bachelor roosters has gotten out of his paddock (again) and gone on walkabout in the yard. (His nickname is Houdini, he can get out of anything.) I can't cope with him today. Yard is fenced and secure, cats can get in, but he'd beat a cat up. I just put food and water out for him and told him to be good, and that if anything came after him while I was inside, he was on his own. More secure paddock is on the list... :he - Ant Farm
congrats, I hope you feel better soon.
