Are you certain you haven't had other changes that could have resulted in less malpositions? Storage conditions has a GREAT effect on malpositions, as does turning and a few other things..... there are many many abstracts and studies which will point out the most detrimental turning times, KEEP IN MIND ALTHOUGH they point out these detrimental times, this does in no way suggest to stop turning them early.



a note: Please double check where you pick up information, and perhaps see how many hatches someone has before we take advice from them. I know that doesn't sound like me in that comment, but I get upset when people are told things that have no proof other than hearsay. If I had more time I would fill this page up with info as I do best. If you find more information on the relevance of turning to support the stopping its important I know so that I can change information on here.


Fourteenth day - embryo gets into position suitable for breaking shell

nope that was the only change I did, eggs are stored exactly the same conditions and no longer than 7 days. still trying to figure out the incubator issue .one thing to note though is I am attempting hatching at 5k ft elevation too so far the 2 attempts since stopping at closer to day 15 have yielded same results for me of less mal positions. I am using the LG plastic egg turner will keep ya posted , but come Friday won't be in same incubator either

A friend brought me over another dozen Ameraucana eggs and 4 more Marans eggs to put in the bator Sunday. He only wants the Marans chicks. I'm going to be over run with Ameraucana chicks.

nope not fixed yet, while egg turner isn't moving it stayed stable then when turner moved it went all whacky again, spike 102 then back down to 97 which is at least acceptable, will see if it evens out now turner is settled

Helped one of the malpos out, resting and drying off. All but one are out now - that one still has blood vessels, and I got some bleeding (not the best way to discover that

) - hope not too much. Put her back in. Something about her makes me wonder if she's going to make it. She's gotten tired. But I can't go any further with those blood vessels still there. Hopefully we can get it done in a couple hours.

I didn't note the position of the first two chicks I helped, but they had pipped at least near the air cell. These two malpositioned chicks (the one I just helped and the one I'm waiting on) were in the butt-and-hocks-agaist-air-cell position. I'll do an eggtopsy on the dead one after the hatch is over to see what position she's in.

I guess I have learned a lot about assisting, so I'll be all ready for the shipped egg hatch next week... That hatch will be in the Brinsea. You can't see as well, but hopefully it will go better (incubator function-wise).

your ok sweets, you had some big wet chicks from humidity, we knew it could be an issue. This screws them up because lack of room in the shell to pip right. its ok!!! you arent doing bad at all!

My incubator is about twenty feet away. I may have kinda sorta set the baby video monitor on it. Maybe kinda sorta.

@Sally Sunshine she said it was day 9 and on schedule. Her hatch rates were great last time so we will see.

it's evill I tell ya, have tried it in different locations, seems to do this after day 5 until I stop the egg turned than is fine until humidity is raised.cooler bator parts are here though i'll fix that LG lol, just waiting so dad can help me build it Friday By the way now it's not turning them it's 99.5

Also makes me wonder if something isn't sealed right on the digital they put in that

has done this all 6 hatches and sent a message to the manufacturer and gotten no reply
