Someone studied @Sally Sunshine s guide to assisted hatching

Dont worry, you did the best you could and handled it in the best possible way. Sometimes the chicks just wont make it. Lets hope she does.

Thanks, Sally and Lozerface. And yes, I did study. A lot.

It's just nerve-wracking to wait. S/he worked a leg loose and occasionally kicks, and sometimes there's a little more bleeding from that. We'll see... Here's a photo. You can see a little bit of yolk.

Meanwhile, the little boy now has his hobble on (in the incubator for now). It's not the prettiest thing you ever saw (he squirmed a lot), but it's doing what it's supposed to. He hates me with the fire of a thousand suns...

(I'm off to turn down the humidity on the Brinsea. I can always turn it back up again later...)

Argh! Tried to help that last one again, hit a tiny blood vessel (that I couldn't see) and more bleeding. Stopped immediately, put her back in. I think I can see that there's still some yolk outside her belly (hard to tell).

So, I'm just going to have to WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT until she's ready, and hope she survives. She's starting to breathe a little shallow, so I don't know if she will...

The only consolation is to know that without my help, there's no way she would survive, so I am trying not to feel like I'm "messing up".

Don't beat yourself up, you're doing great.

@sarasweatman @casportpony @SilkieSensation Ancona Duck eggs. yay and BOOO!!!! air cells initially are nice and small..HOWEVER they had been hammered enroute I cant believe from sarahs house to mine eggs get this damaged. swear its a post office close to us! I never had such bad air cells as her eggs, she packed them well!! :he USPS broke egg it was all over the others somehow, I will have to wash. Should I try the bleach wash followed with antibiotic for them? The air cells are HAMMERED R is for roller end to end, I think two eggs may be ok. The other air cells are just about rolling and loose way way down the sides of the eggs. They are wet and stinky now from the poo getting wet. Any suggestions or how and what to use for the antibiotic is appreciated!
Not sure what I would do. -Kathy

Quote: I see yellow liquids jelly and then I see what appears to be yolk towards the lower right where his feet are????

yellow jelly is high humidity so need to weigh for 13-14% weight loss next time. what were your temps? did you run temps like I do or lower?

Sally, those shipped eggs that I got were covered in broken egg, and some had poo on them as well. I followed the washing eggs info that you linked for me (I think from someone else, but still in your info) - used bleach and water in a big Pyrex measuring cup, and used the microwave and instant read thermometer to keep the water temp between 100-115F (reheating bleach water as necessary). Gently washed each one and dried. Still don't know how the hatch will do (on day 12 right now), but no smells, no sappy eggs, and development on day 7 for all except two bad detached rollers. So maybe you could try that?

Is it a triple malpo? Wrong end, foot over head and head over wing? -Kathy

Thank you! yeppers I will def be doing the bleach solution, but not sure on antibiotic. I am reading that stuff now. I figure it cant hurt them unless the antibiotic isnt water soluble I have several antibiotics and not sure what to use... and tylan I have but not sure if that would clog the egg pores I have a bunch of stuff just need to figure out what
