I don't know enough about antibiotics to know how effective applying them to an egg would be. To me it makes more sense to dip them in a solution like Tektrol or chlorhexadine since I think both will kill most bacteria and viruses.

I dont have either of those

Oh no, those poor eggies. *hugs I hope you get a few to hatch.

what about a Vit C dip instead of an antibiotic after the bleach wash?
I dont have that either lol

On a happy note, I have eggs heading my way from Papa Brooder!!! 21 one mailed out today! I hope to be able to set by Saturday. I think I will end up setting late for the Easter HAL which is a bit of a bummer but can't be helped.
YAY PAPA!!!!

Ummm... I went from 40% humidity with a sponge and dish to 55% with four sponges, a dish, a bar rag and all channels full. What the heck? And it's been twelve hours.

Does anyone have any advice on hatching bantams? And getting the eggs to fit a regular chicken egg turner?

I have the opportunity to get some bantam Phoenix hatching eggs from someone local but I've never hatched bantams before.

Thanks, Sally and Lozerface. And yes, I did study. A lot. :D It's just nerve-wracking to wait. S/he worked a leg loose and occasionally kicks, and sometimes there's a little more bleeding from that. We'll see... Here's a photo. You can see a little bit of yolk. Meanwhile, the little boy now has his hobble on (in the incubator for now). It's not the prettiest thing you ever saw (he squirmed a lot), but it's doing what it's supposed to. He hates me with the fire of a thousand suns... (I'm off to turn down the humidity on the Brinsea. I can always turn it back up again later...) - Ant Farm
Why does he hate you?

Today was day 18 on my other serama eggs. All looked good. A few had drawn down aircells and most only had a few veins to absorb! I hope the egg from my serama pair hatches! The last egg from them was the one that pipped and died. I opened it up and there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the chick...I am at a loss.
