So. Day 18 for my Marans eggs. They are all really dark masses in there that are moving. Put 10 (!) in the hatcher with the single araucana egg. My husband freaked out because it's been 3-4 days since we put the araucana in and haven't had any rocking/peeping, so we candled it tonight. It's internally pipped and still moving! So back in s/he went! Hopefully s/he makes it out and encourages the marans out too!

As far as the marans eggs go. I thought 1 was going to be a quitter that we left in the bator at day 14, but nope... I know my last update i said 9 going strong. Glad I was wrong.

Update for the Lakenvelders: only 4 of the 7 are developing. Day 7 in the am tomorrow, but we're going to be busy since I have to clean out the brooder, get more feed, and go to work...

I just loved my lakenvelder roo. Sadly he was killed by a dog the first day we let him out. The hen is very skittish though. A very good breed to watch for predators.

I ended up with 16 Serama eggs in the incubator. Slightly staggered, not as bad as I usually do. 13 in last Saturday, two the next day, one the next day....couldn't help it.

@Sally Sunshine Well, the bleedy-butt chick is doing ok. She kicked out of her cup sometime today, and her bottom is now brown and has a rock solid scab on it. She seems to walk a little funny and sleep more, but it could just be the giant wad on her behind! No one is picking the spot, I hope it stays that way, it's not red, so I am hoping.

No more pips still.
