This little girl pipped. The other two didn't. LOL! I think it's obvious the second didn't pip! The third was also a girl. I think that makes ten girls, and ten boys.

A lovely day here, 64* right now supposed to get to 72. Spent the morning out with the chickens, cleaning and learning to use the mulcher attachment to my leaf blower. Now waiting on my sourdough bread to finish rising. Rooster in picture was my friendliest. A huge guy who though it was fun to charge at me the other night. He did not enjoy his punishment of being walked around his coop and marched in front of the other coops while he was dangling upside down. If anyone here watches game of thrones I was very much like the nun with the bell chanting " shame shame". He's been on much better behavior since.

Hi everyone! I ordered a dozen Ancona duck eggs, and they went in the incubator today. I received 13 eggs, but one was cracked. I tried to fix it with candle wax, but I don't know if it will work or not since I've never tried it before. I've started misting my eggs with a 50/50 mix of water and Gold Listerine before I put them in the incubator to disinfect them. Hopefully that with increase my hatch rate. I'm hoping that these guys will be much easier to hatch than my Calls and Muscovies that I usually try to hatch. *fingers crossed*
There you are!!!

Thanks! And, it's just horrible here! It went from a nice 50-60 degree weather to now a 90 degree day! I wish I could be somewhere where it is snowy right now!

Suddenly, I find myself missing the 95* 90%humidity days of north central MD. Something's bad wrong with this picture..Where's the global warming now, Mr. Scientist? Huh? Speak up...I can't hear you!

Up to 7 pips now. No chicks yet. The membrane by the mal-positioned chick looks like it may be getting a little dry. I do see some movement when I check up on the incubator - the beak occasionally comes out through the membrane. I'm not holding my breath on this chick, but praying for it nonetheless. It has not been 24 hours yet, and I don't want to jeopardize the good looking pips for the one poorly positioned one.

...and the problem with that is?  I'd take that over cold/wet/wind any day.

It just came so fast!!!

Thanks. Maybe my candler isn't strong enough and they are actually fine.... Yeah, I'll stick with that idea. :he

Guess there is always the EHAL, maybe I can figure what went wrong by then.
