Can I put my 2 week old chicks outside in one of my brick enclosures in this 90 degree Arizona heat? And at night, give them a heat lamp?

Yes CH if the brooder is ready and warm. marbles in the water and sprinkle some food onthe napkins, 95 degrees in ONE corner of the brooder... have water ready to fill up your bator at the same time.

Where is the grumpy cranky old man? what have you DONE with him!! Sun must be shining today!

100.5-101 temps..... because I hatch all CHICKEN eggs at that temp calibrated. nothing special about it with shipped.

try testing it a few times, rate your hatch, check how your chicks score with navels, weights, hocks etc, check your hatch rates, check your hatch times, check your empty shells. Let me know what you find.

@ChickenCanoe
Hey, Sally, can I borrow one of your cabinet 'bators? Thought I could pull all the trays out & climb inside 'til these arctic temps go away. I wouldn't even care if the thermometers were calibrated

I candled, I'll post the results in a minute. Not good.

they are heated dog water dishes...inside totes...with heat lamps Above....twenty below last night...they didn't freeze solid though....just skim ice.
unreal!!

Candle results 2\13\16

Candled 13, (8 BSL, 5 EE) 3 possible blood rings left in because they could be veins, I'm not sure. All the brown are clear looking, but left them in anyway as I might be wrong. 2 had a yellowish tinge and looked scrambled. I cracked them, and it looked like my breakfast!
barnie.gif

HOWEVER------ ONE lone EE egg, the same one I saw veins in last candle, has what appears to be a HEAD near the air cell! Looks very alive!

The brown one I thought I saw movement in still has the same brown spot, my conclusion is it is a spot in the yolk and I accidentally shook it so it moved.
END TALLY- 12 left, 3 EE and 8 BSL.

The egg that had a scrambled yolk

The black spot I thought was alive last time

Eggtopsy results. They look like they were shipped!

I dont think incubation issues are a factor here sweets. Is the roo a mixed breed? The others are good and strong moving nice veining?

:hugs I dont see why not!!  and now you can get smaked for telling us its 90 degrees!!! :smack :gig

Of course!!  I would turn it down just a bit before entry!

Thanks! And, it's just horrible here! It went from a nice 50-60 degree weather to now a 90 degree day! I wish I could be somewhere where it is snowy right now!

Hi everyone! I ordered a dozen Ancona duck eggs, and they went in the incubator today. I received 13 eggs, but one was cracked. I tried to fix it with candle wax, but I don't know if it will work or not since I've never tried it before. I've started misting my eggs with a 50/50 mix of water and Gold Listerine before I put them in the incubator to disinfect them. Hopefully that with increase my hatch rate. I'm hoping that these guys will be much easier to hatch than my Calls and Muscovies that I usually try to hatch. *fingers crossed*

Roos are not mixed, silkie and sultan. Both are less than a year old. No movement in any, and signs of life were only visible in one. Rest were clear or iffy. No veining visible at all. Right now I'd be suprised if even one hatched. :(
