When I first started incubating I'd did not know anything about candleing. All eggs made it 21
Days. I guess I was lucky they never exploded on me. I've found nest in the field around here with old eggs in them. The explode really well when thrown against a tree. Make sure you are ten feet or more away if you find yourself doing this.

Lol. I I'll let the DH and DS have all that fun. I have a good candled but I need to get a couple more for these eggs. Just takes $

I checked and Stark doesn't have them any more but they do carry fruits with multiple varieties of the same species on the same tree.

No I was going to do the float test end of day 23. The link said do not do it until after the hatch deadline

What is accomplished by float testing at that point?
When an egg has incubated for 3 weeks or so, won't it float whether it contains an embryo or not?

How cold can an egg get between the time i move it from the coop to storage?

Down to about 29 for a short period and hatching is still possible. If ice crystals form in the egg, embryonization is no longer possible.

Ideally however, the egg should only go through 2 temperature changes. One after it is laid and lowered quickly to about 65F and again when the temperature is slowly brought to incubation temperature.

I write more on BYC than almost any other place.

CC there is Mammals that have their gonads( test....) inside their body! Elefants, rhinos, wels , dolphins, seals .....

I thought my hatch was over but I was talking to the babies and heard scratching around in the bator behind me. Another poult hatched and 2 more eggs are pipped lol. This is doing to be a long, drawn out hatch!

Also I had an awesome meet up with several other BYCers over doughnuts today and it was amazing!

We have a meetup, usually coffee, tea, lunch once or twice a month with our local chicken meetup. We have almost 800 members.
The last one was crazy. It was a chicken book sharing event at a coffee shop. We filled the place.

You will probably find that the most eggs take much longer than 21 days to explode. Any eggs that died I would put in a plastic bag and break open with hand to see what happened with chick. No pops.
