Question about stored egg temps. I had read on here to store the eggs between 40-50F. I'm ready to fire up the Bator again (only got 1 chick out of the last batch but have purchased a fan kit now. Maybe that'll help).
The eggs are obviously cold, but I am wondering how long I should wait, or if it's nessisary, before putting them in the incubator once I get the Bator temp stablized.
You want to elevate the temperature slowly, about 10F per hour should be fine.
Otherwise they will get condensation on them.
40 is doable but a little cool. 40 is fine if stored for longer than a week but otherwise keep it between 55 and 65F.
The live ones will spin as the chick kicks around.
Thanks, that helps. But they would only spin if the chick wasn't resting, which they do most of the time by day 22.
[@=/u/72519/ChickenCanoe]@ChickenCanoe[/@] not sure I understand the question? It's a LG styro still air so there's some variance. I've got the channels filled with river rocks and I move the eggs around pretty often. This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, or fifth hatch in the LG so I'm used to it. I'm also getting bator parts for valentines day.
Maybe I didn't really have a question but just thinking out loud.
It just reminded me of when a hen isn't covering all the eggs and one or more gets left out for extended periods.
If you have a fan, I'm sure that would correct it.
