@ChickenCanoe not sure I understand the question? It's a LG styro still air so there's some variance. I've got the channels filled with river rocks and I move the eggs around pretty often. This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, or fifth hatch in the LG so I'm used to it. I'm also getting bator parts for valentines day. ;)

Hatch is still going on... took these 12 out of the incubator. Blondie just looks huge - 48gm. Several of the chicks are 45-48gm. My hygrometer came way too late. My humidity is too high... I have a few that are dead after pipping - rolled around by the chicks to pipped side down - very sad to see them lost. On a positive note - this hatch is much better than the last one - and still learning. Looking forward to EHAL.

Question about stored egg temps. I had read on here to store the eggs between 40-50F. I'm ready to fire up the Bator again (only got 1 chick out of the last batch but have purchased a fan kit now. Maybe that'll help).
The eggs are obviously cold, but I am wondering how long I should wait, or if it's nessisary, before putting them in the incubator once I get the Bator temp stablized.
You want to elevate the temperature slowly, about 10F per hour should be fine.
Otherwise they will get condensation on them.

40 is doable but a little cool. 40 is fine if stored for longer than a week but otherwise keep it between 55 and 65F.

The live ones will spin as the chick kicks around.
Thanks, that helps. But they would only spin if the chick wasn't resting, which they do most of the time by day 22.

Maybe I didn't really have a question but just thinking out loud.

It just reminded me of when a hen isn't covering all the eggs and one or more gets left out for extended periods.
If you have a fan, I'm sure that would correct it.

If you get bored I could use another one. @Sally Sunshine hope you feel better. @kwhites634 good afternoon, thanks for the update I read back. @chicken hawk 33 I am glad the rest of your hatch has been going well, but next time you get impatient remember the four.

That's awesome. There aren't many members that are super local here. There are more enthusiasts but they aren't on BYC. There were only 7 of us this time, but hopefully next time there will be more. ^_^

That's usually about the size of our normal get-togethers    I was shocked to see so many people this time when I walked in.  Our coop tours and education events are bigger.
I think only a handful of them are on BYC.
This is our group. I'm one of the organizers.

Its a no good! I have contacted the seller for a replacement, he will return to me afther the 15 of Feb.

The hen with suspected worms died... She wouldn't eat the bread or the mealworms I mixed with wormer. Oh well.
Atleast the chicks are doing well! Check out the feathers chipmunk is growing! She's going to one pretty bird!!

She's already growing tail feathers too!

The "center" 9 with the double-marked air cells are 10 days ahead of the other 20. I'm not sure on the fertility of the green, so in a few days that rogue egg may have a spot. I've got 7 days to make the coolerbator. I'm just going to use it as a hatcher for now.

The little eggs are svarthona. I'm incubating as they get too old to sell.

Good morning all! Happy Valentine's day. Just stopped in, tried to catch up. Stay warm to everyone that is cold - I do NOT want to change places.

No, I would NEVER feel comfortable Caponizing a rooster! That guy was SO FAST, then just dropped them into the box - no stitches?

Great Builds, plans, chicks etc. Happy everyone had such successful hatches!!!

CH I hope you left it alone I am POSITIVE I killed two of my viable eggs last hatch helping them out.

Grafting....I bought a beautiful pink rose bush one time and first flowers out once I got home were yellow. Half the bush had pink, other half yellow. I'd love to try to a branch from the orange tree from my old house to something at my new house....

I had a zero hatch rate in my 6 silkie eggs. I float tested yesterday, they were viable, but no noticable movement. I candled and tapped the shells, no chirping, no visible movement. I pipped the shells and again, NO SIGNS OF LIFE.

I have a full bator with staggered hatches in my other bator. I'm going to sterilize the Incuview. run it a few days and set it up with the egg turner. When it's time for the first hatch to lock down, I'll take out the egg turner in my LG, up the humidity and hatch in that. Use the Invuview for the earlier eggs.

I hope everyone has a great day!!
