Not necessarily. I'd still give it a shot... if I was looking to expand my flock, and if I had room and the equipment to brood chicks in the winter, and if I was willing to accept the risk of winter hatching/brooding... we often loose power here for days at a time in the winter. (IMO, not having any studies to back it up, of course...) eggs getting chilled early on, may go on to develop and hatch ok. Then again... at risk of being stoned by this group of addicts... it would be just as easy to pitch those eggs and wait till spring, then start a batch!!

I want to tell you yes, but with experience.   you only candled three or four!  we will talk when you candle them wondering how you will be able to gauge how your running humidity just checking 4? and you only have a few days left until lockdown to make any adjustments.

I candled all of them last week and marked sacs. I was planning on candling all of them tonight but wanted to check a few today to be sure if I needed to do any adjustment to the humidity. I checked 2 I could see growth in and two I as unsure if they were growing to see the difference in air sacs from last week

What??.she was off this morning that's all I know I took the dirty eggs out.when I went to the coop just now she was back on the nest she had too many I think.some where cold that she was not covering.the bantam an egg disappeared though..What you mean SALLY

HEY CHICKEN HAWK........ PUT A PENCIL MARK ON THESE eggs so you know which eggs she is setting on in case other hens decide to lay others on top of her
