So, we took the dirty paper towel off the floor of the hatcher, put clean one down, and checked the eggs an hour later... One of the Maran's has pipped! thru the membrane, so everything looks good so far.

We may have Batman/Batgirl #2 here soon!

Hey guys, I am trying to get eggs for a lady who wants to hatch some and need to know how much our four days of rain and cold will have changed breeding/fertilization rates. What do you think? All young first month layers and 7 month old roo.

If it's been only four days, you should be okay. Hens can easily stay fertile for a week, so if the eggs were fertile before the rain and cold, they should still be okay. Wouldn't hurt to crack one or two open just to be sure, as SS mentioned. Just my 2c...

Sorry I missed Sally's reply. I can check. My 14 of age are laying 10 a day so I can check a few. I checked my first three last week and two of them were fertile.

Okay, added a little back splash to the wire to cut down on floor debris, and placed the feeder and waterer inside to get an idea for location. Couldn't find any marbles or colored stones laying around the house, so I used small river rock. I'll probably start with the feeder sideways, but this looks like a good location once the chicks are a little older.
