The "topic" on this thread is more times than not "no topic" in particular; just whatever happens along 'til someone needs help.

I don't have an answer for you, but Sally probably does, or knows where to point you; she does read backs frequently and will see your post.

@Sally Sunshine
Hey Whites!

have to agree with you there, more often then not we seem to talk about everything but chickens, until some one comes along with a question that reminds us why Sally started this thread.

Hello I have a bit of a random question that I was wondering if any of you have an answer to. So I have I still aired incubator that I am innovating into a fanned aired one and I also wanted to make humidity in it automatic. I wanted to know if there is a way to do that so I don't have to worry about the humidity change. Is there something small and cheap that I can buy for that? Thanks for even reading and hope I was not to off of the topic on this thread.
Check the two links above for humidity ideas.

Good afternoon everyone!

Had an interesting find in the barn this morning....

It seems one of my LF girls and my silkie rooster must have had a date a while back. Ten little ones in the hay loft, I am guessing about a week old. All have silkie feathering down the legs, some have the beards and tufts showing a bit.
Guess that was payback for my Columbian Roo/silkie hen liaisons at New Years

No idea how they survived as there is no food or water in the loft?
Scooped em up and dropped them into the brooder when I found them. Mom nowhere to be seen.
Had to sub-divide the brooder this morning, I am expecting my Auracana chicks to start hatching tomorrow.

We also had a another 'little' addition this week...

Meet Princess, eight week old Great Pyrenees pup. We were on the breeder's waiting list, and one of the other interested parties dropped out at the last minute.

Have a great day everyone!

you will have to change humidity as you go, you understand humidity is not a set number? most of us start off with 30-35% humidity and then after day 7 candle depending on air size we lower or raise it. Most bators are fine with just adding water to the troughs or most add water above in the side of the turner in a dish of some sort. And you Just checking on this because I am not sure how experienced or inexperienced you are. Also you calibrated thermo hygros and added extra to be sure your bator is on track and never going below 99.5 at least? and you know still air vs fan models have different temps you need to keep?

Yes. We have had temps in the high twenties and low thirties for the past several days. getting snow at the moment, then supposed to cool off to the tens and teens again for a few days. cant wait for spring!
We had a regular monsoon a couple days ago that left everything even muddier than it was before from snow melt..Fortunately, the top freezes overnight so it's not bad before it warms up.

Yes, I saw that you had some pretty nasty weather there, and Ur and CH had some real ugly stuff the other night. snow and wet I can manage, tornadoes in February? not so much.
