Close. Those are red snakeheads, Chana microlepsis (sp?), and they used to be very popular in the aquarium hobby. They are from SE Asia and are much less winter hardy than the Oriental snakeheads (Chana orientalis) that invaded a pond in Crofton, MD a few years back. These are actually pretty as juveniles, but grow up to be big, mean, ugly predators that need a large tank and make a huge mess (explains their popularity with a certain crowd).
I'm not up on the legalities, but I wouldn't be surprised if these were also banned from the US. Not a huge loss, IMO, they are awful pets, sort of like alligators or giant pythons/anacondas, the only really redeeming quality they possess is the ability to frighten/horrify other people.
