I,did my research for a couple years.muscovys are not derived from mallards like other ducks are.
Perhaps it could have been written better, but I think what it says is that domestic ducks like Pekings are in the same family as Mallards.

"Muscovy and domestic ducks (such as the Pekin - which were developed from Mallards) are very different as they have been genetically isolated for over 50 million years."

So what is in their water now? ACV, Save A Chick, sugar and Corid?

-Kathy
yes

I got a call from this guy who kept buying chicks and after a couple of days they were all dying. This happened several times with chicks from different people. Turned out his wife was making extra strength electrolyte solution for them (she thought more was better) and they were dying of salt overload. When we figured it out on the phone he gave them plain water and they drunk like crazy there and then and no more died after that.

I believe that article was stating that Muscovys have been have been genetically isolated from Mallards and breeds derived from them for 50 million years.. So, not false. Maybe just poorly worded.

Actually, it says Pekins were developed from Mallards, not Muscovey, so it's neither false nor poorly written...it's all in the puctuation
yeah I don't think it was poorly written at all....it basically said that muscoveys aren't the same genetically as mallard based breeds.
