If they started dying right away I would be very suspicious of stress from shipping and/or dehydration, not coccidiosis.

BACILLARY WHITE DIARRHEA OFCHICKS

Bacterial diseases
Colibacillosis (Coliform infections)
http://msucares.com/poultry/diseases/diseases.html

also cocci is everywhere cant rule out the number one killer HOWEVER Between 2-8 weeks old is the most common age for chicks to suffer from an overload of cocci.

Kat what is that disease turkeys/chickens get that most vaccinate for showing birds, Trach something or other? what are those symptoms?

Need to look into this. My Pet Chicken says that bacillary white diarrhea is rare, but I don't know how true that is.

Pullorum Disease

Pullorum disease, previously known as Bacillary White Diarrhoea, in poultry is caused by Salmonella Pullorum. It is an acute systemic disease of young chickens and poults.
Salmonella Pullorum

Pullorum disease is spread from infected parent birds via the egg to the chick. Infected chicks spread the disease laterally in the hatchery.
Reports of clinical disease in avian species other than chickens, turkeys and pheasants are rare.

Clinical signs of Pullorum Disease

  • Usually seen in chicks younger than 3 weeks old.
  • First indication is an excessive number of dead-in-shell chicks and deaths shortly after hatching.
  • Clinical signs variable and non-specific.
  • White diarrhoea, with pasting of the vent is often a feature.
Treatment and control

  • Antibiotic treatment not recommended as birds may become carriers.
  • Control is usually by testing and the removal of infected birds.

Here you go.... Went out to the coop with a meat thermometer and took two readings off of two broody hens. They both read 104 degrees with my meat thermometer. Now, I put the thermometer to the chickens skin and took the reading.

I went back to the incubator and taped the incubator and meat thermometer along with the other two thermometers together and put them in the incubator. It has been running all night...The reading after 10 minutes were 101 on all thermometers. So I bumped the incubator to 104.4 and ran it till it shut off at 104.4 All the thermometers are calculated to this and I shall see what happens. It is too bad that it takes 21 days to find out if I cooked them. I wonder if I need to stay away from the chicken body and take temp on top of the eggs when the hens are sitting on them?

@Sally Sunshine, yes!! It is heart shaped. The pool is right next to it and the hot tub is right behind where I took the pic everything is tied together.

She started it not me.

Ok here is Catie and Crissy. From the last pics I showed while they were still in Germany, their ears have flip flopped. Chrissy's are now standing up and Catie's are flopped. They'll go through this the next 6 months. Got the new pond to a point that we could move the fish back in. It is now twice the size it originally was. And the waterfall is just outside the left side of the pic. I'll get it 100% one one of these days. We also put in new pumps/filter/heater for the pool and moved them out by the fence so after the indoor/outdoor kennels are done, I'll put a building around them.
dawwwwwww so cute!!!! is that pond a heart shape? its very beautiful already. My kids would never stay out of it unless I put snappers in it.

Going out to water chickens..> Is it 1 TBS per gallon ACV? Might get them a boost of what ever it is that I keep hearing about that is good with ACV.
:thumbsup but never it metal waterers you know that
So culling is definitely the hardest thing for me to do I think I am going to have to tell my friends to quit bringing me their beautiful roosters they need to learn to do it themselves ... I don't have a problem with my meat birds cuz they never get beautiful My update 2 incubators all clean and ready for the next go round... 41 eggs going in this evening... Last hatch all 10 still alive and doing well
awwwww I hear that, the cornish x are easy its them dang colorful roos that get me everytime! Let me know what breeds and I will update your hatcher info! @sarah25bear
Why would snappers keep em out? I swam in ponds with snappers as a kid, I still got all my toes. ;) -Banti
