Help one of the babies seems to be having a hard time breathing. Like its constantly opening and closing its mouth. Not really chirping

Good morning, Matt! Looks like you've had an interesting night!!!

Not much to be done for this chick. You'll have to be patient and see what naturally happens. As long as it's breathing, it's a good sign. I wouldn't worry about it...

Also is this much blood normall???

I don't see any blood... just the wound where the umbilical cord detached. Just keep an eye on it and make sure the other chicks don't peck at it. It should heal on it's own...

First time jitters???

It's understandable. You do everything you can for 3 weeks to get the eggs to hatch, and it makes you extremely nervous when they hatch and you think something's wrong. Just remember, there's only so much you can do, then nature takes over. You're doing great!!!

you know why a broody hen pecks your hand during a hatch if you try and reach under her... Because what's under the skirt is no one's business but hers. Lol.
