I wish I knew enough. You could try moving a tiny piece of shell to check if it has been like that too long. Sally has mentioned that they can take up to a day to move to zip, but that brown looks different to me. .

Her food and water is right there for her.

She couldn't be more broody I don't think it affects them, or at least not much. She still wants to hatch chicks despite the box.

I think she prefers it over in the coop, plus she's not taking up a nest box in there where another hen would suddenly decide that's where she wants to lay....

That's not a bad idea. I would plan to have the finished edge inside though. Bugs like to hide out in the bark.

yeah, I was thinking of using it on the outside sides instead of tin on one of the coops I plan to build with my free four foot two by fours. I thought it is a lot like old barn siding since it is oak. I could pull the bark off. I will use an interior board too

Only 24 made it to lockdown but the 2 that hatched are perfectly healthy babies. Not sure how they hatched ok but not the others

I kept a quilt over the incubator and it only lost heat down to 84.9 degrees and the humidity climbed to 65 each time. I just couldn't believe what happened! Can she poop in there?
I usually put them in their own apartment about that size with fresh bedding and I can scoop out the daily broody glob.
I don't like to disturb them at all. They come out of the trance on their own schedule for their daily stretch.
I can actually see how often they come off the nest by that big glob of feces. I now know that they don't always come off every day.
