I am a new cheeky mom I have four, one and a half week old baby chicks and three of them have been picking on one. It started with poop stuck on the bum and before I knew it they were picking at her pooper and made her bleed. I took her out and put her in a seperate cage. I cleaned her wound and she looks like she's doing good although she's missing some feathers cuz they had managed to pull out her little tiny down feathers. I don't know what to do I tried to put her back in with the others after 3 days and their attitudes did not change because she has a naked pooper they pick on her poor little bum. I need help , she is so sweet and doesn't want to be alone. can somebody tell me what to do and how to stop this Behavior thank you.
I will pray. Try to take comfort in knowing that it is temporary, but I know things like that are easier said than done.I'm so tired of this scoliosis already. I got my back brace, and it hurts so much. I can't sleep and I'm constantly moving and walking around because I have to wear it for at least 18 hours a day. It's beyond uncomfortable. I don't even know what to do except get over it, which isn't easy.
yeah!Thank you everyone for the help on my silkie chick! I did the bandaid method and she (hopefully) is now walking.

@cathy dx2. Also, if you have any others with poopy/pasty butt, use a washcloth with warm water and soak, moisten until you get it off. They can actually plug up and die. There are links about pasty butt in the notes section on the first page of this thread. Welcome!Hi Cathy and congrats on your new chicks! It's very normal for chickens to peck at blood so a product like Blu Kote will protect the wound and mask the blood color so the chick can heal. You can usually get this at any farm store. For a small chick, don't get the spray, you want the little container with the dauber. Clean the wound first and let it dry a bit then you can apply with a q-tip. It will stain hands clothes etc so be careful with it. Hopefully after applying the chicks won't pay much attention to the wound. It sounds like you're keeping a close eye on everyone so just continue making sure the wound stays clean.
If you have enough room in your brooder you could also place the chick in an open top box with food and water as long as the heat source can safely warm the chick without the others jumping the sides. A stuffed animal or small mirror can also be used with an isolated chick for keeping it company if for some reason you can't get the Blu Kote or they still won't leave it alone. Keep us posted!
