I suppose it would make it easier if you held;) some kind of grudge against them...

I don't hold grudges against them......I get even :lau

Apoc, my 7-month old Naked Neck cockerel on "probation" for picking fights with other boys, launched a full on attack of both of my shins/boots this evening - kept coming at me, didn't stop until the fourth kick in the chest. My offense was daily changing of his water. Fortunately he has no spurs to speak of yet and I wear tough pants and boots to do my chicken chores. But I will have NO problem processing him next weekend...

I'd have ended him then and there. That's how it happened with my last roo.

He already had his "maybe I just startled you or wore the wrong color" second chance. He failed, and briefly went after a boot the other day. So I had already decided to cull, but didn't have the time/set up to process at the time. While the plan is to do it this weekend, I may need to see if I can arrange to move it up some. I'm not putting up with that chit when I'm trying to do my chicken chores...

I think my question to him was REALLY I would have done it for you for half that.

Crazy
A CAT scan would have been free!

And the cat would have disposed of it as well!!!

Perfect answer!

Me too. Don't get many second chances around here, and certainly no third chance!

Once I decide to cull, the sooner the better. Even if it's not attacking me, I still hate to waste feed on something I know is going to be leaving shortly. Aggressive behavior gets you to the front of the line...

Not much time required at all, specially with those naked necks cause they're already half plucked for ya. I wasn't planning on whacking my last roo but circumstances changed and the wife was kinda surprised when I came back to the house with the body.

My son says they get three chances and he's the one who gets scared of them. I'll give them two, hoping the first was a bluff but I'll call there bluff the second time.

Don't even know how far behind I am. Not going to try and catch up but just post a update. @Sally Sunshine 9 eggs went under broody yesterday. And 28 went into the LG sat night. Have another hen that went broody who is currently on a empty nest. Hopefully work will calm down a bit tmrw and I can rejoin the banter.

@Sally Sunshine Beautiful chickies :)
@Fire Ant Farm Sorry about the chick it is sad, but I agree it is easier not to have to do it.
@LittleLakePhil Any news? Did you get to fish?
@Ur-ur-ur-urrr Any news on the eggs?
@Jessimom:hugs
@flocktastic Hang in there!

:lau I think you're funny.

I didn't say funny "looking "!
Oooooohhhh...... I think I made a mistake.:th

I was digging holes for the blackberry bushes this evening - hard sweaty work, trying to go as fast as I could with no rest, trying to beat the light. I finally got all the holes dug, but only one planted before it got too dark to go on. I was both hungry and thirsty, and a little loopy to boot. So when I got inside, weirdly, I ended up reaching for whole milk instead of water. It was really good. And I was really really thirsty. So I drank more milk. And more...

Ummm... I drank almost half a gallon. At once. I feel... WEIRD. And way too full.

Guess I'm not having dinner tonight. :sick

I love milk, and can drink half a gallon in about a minute.
