You made my day, MC - I needed that!

Thanks - at least it's done. I've only done it once before - hard to be good at something without practice. I'll get there.

See? I can enjoy these adorable photos and have a totally SQUEEEEE moment just like Banti - but have NO desire to actually own any. (Maybe it has something to do with needing to build for them and knowing the amount of back pain that would be involved...) Oh, Happy Birthday, Jace!

@LittleLakePhil - I missed sending you hugs earlier.

I wish you could sleep more easily. (Have you tried to sleep in an armchair/recliner? I have had a few relatives that have struggled with sleeping in a bed/flat for various medical reasons and ended up sleeping in a recliner.)

Congrats!!!

You'll be able to breed and hatch your own chickees now! (Most people don't hatch really early pullet eggs though, because the chicks are stronger if the pullet/hen is older.)

I think one of the most important interpersonal and self-preservation skills to have is to recognize when you need to remove yourself from a situation. Glad you stood up for yourself.

That's a bummer (but SO glad you didn't have an exploder). I wonder if this is because of the really lengthy incubation (and wonder if there are things one could do to mitigate the increased risk of infection)... Looking forward to seeing babies soon! The emus are like the ducklings - no way could I get them, but I can't wait to experience them vicariously through you!

OK, I'm going to take a little nap, I think, then I have to grade exams. (Benny, can you send me grading vibes?)

At least its over, i hate processing chickens, luckily the last few time i helped we had a electric plucker- amazing!!

I need advice totally nonchicken related. Urgent care ($100 copay)
Or E.R. for what I am assuming is a bad sprained ankle.
Urgent care should be a cheaper co-pay more like a doctors visit, if it's sprained ice and elevation are best. good luck

Good morning, everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well today, and if you're not, I hope you are quickly heading that way! Haven't had time to catch up, so I really don't know who's doing what. Whatever it is you're doing, I wish you the best of luck!

Just a quick update on my eggs: I pulled 6 of the 30 on Wednesday, and after double-checking some of the suspicious eggs again last night, I pulled 3 more... so I'm down to 21 as of now. I have 3 more that I honestly think are not going to make it, but I'm giving them the benefit of doubt and wait an extra day or two. Not sure why... I'm fairly certain how those will turn out, but anything's possible. I'm going to predict that by Wednesday (day 14) I'll have 18 left. If I somehow manage to get 12 of the initial 30 eggs to hatch, I'll consider myself lucky...

After my neighbor's dog came over and took one of my red sex links to play with (just wanted to nibble on it and pluck it's feathers) last week, it obviously played a little too rough with the other RSL this week. It broke it's neck. It was the chicken's fault, because the chicken crossed the property line with the sole intention of going over to play with the dog. Not a smart move...

I need to be working on the new coop, but instead, I have to build a "free-range" pen. Talk about an oxymoron...

Yes and the oxymoron could be an idiot with some oxygen problem. ...
