Today's weather is to be very good as well. Mid 80's Tomatoes have hardened off so they will be planted. The grafted ones will start their hardening off process today. Look like three survived out of five. Hope it's not windy as yesterday was.
Sounds great! I'm glad you're tomatoes are doing well. All of my first to sprout died, but the late sprouters are doing well! I did a whole flat worth, but really only need 3-4 of those so I hope it works out well. Watermelon seeds are sprouting and my pepper seeds are sprouting. Just hope we stay away from those below 40 highs....

Well my list won't get done while I'm staring at the screen...

I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

Mites are coming back, but I painted the inside of the coop and the roosts with a matte plastic-based paint so they can't get as hard of a hold as they did on the bare wood and I'm spraying near every day to beat them back. They aren't likely to be as bad this year as last year.

Like I mentioned, I painted the inside of the coop. It's an apple green paint, and i'll be using the same to paint the outside of the coop too. I'm going with a modified barn-style paint job, with apple green walls and white trim on the roof and corners. The roof is a black self-tarring shingle, so it'll look real nice when it's finished. Husband and I are going to be leveling it and possibly shifting the coop position in the run on Sunday or Monday.

Definitely 40 highs makes a garden too much of a challenge. When we lived in Susanville it froze at least once a month the last year we were there. No garden that year.
I have a melon seed from a friend that she has been saving seeds from for quite a while. It got a late start last year and did not do anything. Getting them started today. Some blue corn that's supposed to be drought tolerant and a Mexican currant tomato that also does better with less water.
Good luck on the maters. Come on warm weather

Good morning everyone!

Sounds like a nice day ahead of you - I'm sorry yesterday was difficult at times but so glad you
could be there for your sister and the kids too.

If you have oak ashes available use them on the roost. It really helps me with the mites. It's not readily available for everyone but if you have them use them.
