Well I put Bliss back in her birthing pen for the night. Her mucus appeared to have blood traces in it so we'll watch her with the cameras tonite in case she freshens. I can still feel her pencil ligaments so in my experience she still has some time left but I've been proven wrong before. LOL While I was out graining the preg pen, Blaze has lost her mucus plug too.

One healthy male chicken. I found this on the side of the road and took it to the vet. No diseases and perfectly healthy. Lays great, large eggs.

This is my second time hatching eggs. I hatched ducks last year and chicks this year. I have three chicks that have hatched, and 4 eggs that have not. This is day 23/24. Hold them still when you candle and see if they move. do you see veining at the top of the inner membrane at the air cell?
If no internal pips you should be able to float test them, or let them another day if you feel uncomfortable. Did the air cells draw down CLICK HERE TO UNDERSTAND DRAW DOWN

Mornin whites!!

I wanted the candler because it was old and looked cool. I tried it and it doesn't seem to work very well. The leather gasket the egg sits on is dry and hard so it doesn't properly seal to the egg. It has a standard bulb that seems to be to dim and gets to hot. What can I put on the gasket to soften it up and still be "egg safe"?. Should I invest in a really bright LED bulb for it?

can you cut a pool noodle for on top? if it gets that hot that it would melt it maybe you need some sort of insulation pipe?
