Just in case some random soul out there really gives a rat's behind, here's a bit of an update on the new coop / run I've been working on:

The coop's essentially finished; just waiting on some rubber sheeting for the upper roof (should be in this week, I hope) and I still need to cut the corner molding and tack it on.

Got all the posts set or driven for the run. Weather finally cleared this morning (opposite the forecast) and I got some wire run. After the grass semi-dried I took a fencing break and got the grass mowed, in case the forecast for the balance of the week is right, for once, and we get rain every day.

After another break (I do that very well) I got back to the fencing. Finished the initial roll and brought a new roll down from the barn. Trimmed a couple inches off one of the pop doors so I can remove it easier should the need arise. By that time it was 6:30 and I'd had about all the fun I could stand for one day.

I need to finish the main fencing, run hardware cloth around the bottom, and make a people door, and I'll be good to go.

More cuteness

Good morning everyone! It took me a long time to catch up from Friday night.
sweet dax moving right along!!

I went out to feed and something weird happened to one of the ducks. I sloshed in there to dump nasty water . Tom was on the outside to spray the pools clean . I set the pool down and he started filling I came out the duck came over and rooted in the mud. they Im not sure. I noticed it flatten out with one leg behind it and a seizure type movement. its wings went flat and it looked to be dying. It was like that for a couple min. It got up and kinda walked unsteady . it is still moving its wings funny . Like a big heart beat. Not sure how to explain that. it did drink but I can tell its not right.
very weird granny, did you have your mu mu on? if it was a boy yer done skeered him half to death!! @granny hatchet

I have some lavender orpington eggs in my incubator. Quick question. So today is day 18 and I'll be doing lockdown tonight. I'm going to candle again tonight but I'm pretty sure I've only got one viable egg in there. If only one chick hatches, could that be a problem for the chick? I know they are flock animals and don't do well alone. Any advice?
agree with chaos little mirror stuffed animal and tons of human handling but keep him warm. good luck!
