but things have been crazy here with us having to move around and some other stuff in-between. I'm going to hatch something soonish though. I'm dying to try out my new incubator... That I bought 5 months ago. How's that for self-control?

Ah... their new home. Are those newspapers in the bottom of the tub? Newspaper is slippery and shouldn't be used unless it's been shredded or dampened and allowed to dry completely. Otherwise, the chicks could get splay legs. Paper towels will give them more traction than slick newspaper...

We are always a great team I completely understand! take care of yourself and the boy first and foremost!

SO see it is possible and it happens all the time, @sumi did she need any extra boosts or anything special?
Friday was fine. She tried to walk about 2 minutes after popping out of the shell and was out and about the next day. Joy appeared to be o.k. but, but, but… This pic is of her and her brother who was only 2 weeks older than her:

She only lived 5 months. But she LIVED. She was everyone's baby, so she was spoiled rotten and had a wonderful life. Even the other chickens spoiled her lol My one hen used to call her to come eat whatever tasty treats she found

She was about a month older than Joy, but she "adopted" her.

Sweet. It's never about how much time, it's all about what we do with that time.

that was such a bummer :(

I have come such a different route since I started breeding and selling.
Hatching in bigger quantities I forgot until the Halloween HAL and this thread how important the chicks I hatch are to the people I hatch them for and these chick they are hatching. I think it was a good thing to take a break and step back and go small for a bit and reflect. But I think I have a good handle on what I am doing and glad I make the decisions I do for the chicks that get hatched and sent from us.
