No one th. they are hurting all the other chicks.and pecking them hard I have a bunch of pips but the strong ones are hurting the others
Here's an article posted by Sally on assisted hatch. Scroll down towards the middle and she explains how to carefully remove some shell from around the pip hole. ONLY the shell, while leaving the inner membrane intact. If there are no blood vessels in the membrane, you can open it up very carefully. Try opening the hole just a little at a time, then wait an hour or so to see how the chick is doing. It may be able to get out on it's own if it's able to breath, but you may have to help it if it can't. Just don't rush to get it out, because a torn blood vessel or an exposed yolk will almost mean certain death. TAKE YOUR TIME. If it doesn't make it, it wasn't meant to be. Nature has a way of culling out the weak ones...

Ok, I'm going to jump in and post a few pics. My humidity was down to 27%. I didn't want to fill the well, I just need a little humidity, so I found a salt/pepper shaker. Its square, so it fits between my rails perfectly!

And while I was at it, I candled a few eggs. Only day 5, but life begins! :weee

Heat draw the humidity up through the holes in the top, does it? Pretty neat idea.
