I tried 3 different containers. the chick managed to get out of the fancy cup, plus I don't think it narrowed down enough. Then I tried a fancy wine glass but it was too tall & the chick didn't look like it was going to stay in there either. Then I found a Christmas tealight holder. The chick is in there but still looks like it gets its' legs up on the side. I'm guessing I'll have to try the bandaid splints/ leg connected thing. The white chick with the foot problem (curled toes on 1 foot) is now sporting a fancy new shoe : )
I had 1 last chick hatch with assistance after more than a day of now progress. I should have just left it alone. It has severely curled toes on both feet, doesn't seem to have any leg strength. But peeps like crazy. It can't even stand up. All the yolk had been absorbed & it looked like it had pooped in its' shell. I believe that it was malpositioned & couldn't get its' head up to push. I'm sure I will have to cull this one, poor little guy. I hate this part ( having to cull the tiny babies).
heading to bed. Hope to catch up over the holiday break. I'm only on page 421 (oh my!)

Sounds like you have things under control. I am thinking that little one with curled toes would do well with special shoes too. And just get a deeper cup for the escape artist. The shoe chick should be good by tomorrow. If you put shoes on the curled toed one, it should be good in a day too.

ahhh gotcha!  sounds like if your humidity is up, you should have them out sometime by morning.  if not you should def be starting that assist.  external to zip can be up to 24 at times.   and of course!

Welcome to the group, keep us updated!  I am headed to bed soon!  but I wish you the best and I hope to see you post them pbabies in the morn!

Sorry it took forever to get back my hubby had to use the computer do a college test online then I had to put a Netflix movie on for my daughter to fall asleep to. Anyways ive got 3 babies out & moving around 1 of them did 1 big kick out & its navel isn't closed all of the way so I put it in a bowl on a paper towel so he wont move around to much. Still have 4 more babies to go that are still just laying there wrapped in wet paper towels hopefully they come out soon ive been up since sunday morning. Im so tired im sure even with the babies chirping as loud as they are right next to my pillow on my nightstand I will sleep right through all that noise then I can move them out of my room tomorrow after they are all fluffed. Thanks for helping me.

I had some issues early last year when using a cheap incubator that malfunctioned.  My turkey poults developed until about 3 days before they should have hatched, then began to die in the shell.  The membranes were very thick and rubbery, the yolks were hard around the outside and like you said it seemed they could not absorb it properly.  Some of them were also very sticky with glue-like fluid.  None of these zipped, though many did make it to internal pip and some to external pip.

Regardless of these challenges, if you can see blood vessels, they are not ready to hatch.  Nothing you can or should do but wait.  Pip to zip can take a long time, 18-24 hours is not unreasonable.  Once they start to zip, though, it should progress fairly rapidly.

Thanks for your response. I think even with overheating them that 1 time this is the best hatch rate ive had since ive started incubating im shocked & even though 4 of them are still sleeping in their eggs they are doing very good now even with me going in & out of the bator fussing with their paper towels & getting out the now 3 babies that have finally decided to come out I really didn't think I would have this many make it to hatch day. This is my 4th batch ever & I thought it was something I was doing wrong but I think it had to do with the rooster I was using for my girls. Im gonna try to get a quick cat nap. Will try to figure out how to download my pics onto here later they got some cool colors. The 3 chicks I hatched out of my last 3 batches were all black so its nice to see a new color made it that much more fun for me now I just gotta see if my guess' on the sex are right after they fluff. Thanks again

Update on my hatch...10 out of 20 hatched. It was a 3 day hatch. Started Friday and ended Sunday. My last baby hatched last light and needed help. It got stuck in the egg. It was very weak and I didn't think it would make it. It looked better this morning and by this afternoon it was put with the rest of the chicks. This hatching chicks can get pretty stressful. I opened the other eggs from the air cell ends and all were dead :( that is very sad but I'm happy with the ones that did hatch.

I have 12 hatched babies so far, I think. Three bcm so far, my WL don't seem to be hatching all that great yet tho....time will tell.

Congrats on the chicks everyone!! :D

Sorry about those who are facing tough decisions. :(

BYC won't upload pictures! Ugh.

My chicks are two weeks. Today they are real hyper. They are bouncing around knocking over their water and food and being hard to catch even in my small cage lol. Their racket even attracted my cat who is never interested!

Sorry about the lost eggs, I am so happy you got the weak one back!!!
CONGRATS on your hatch!!
I told you it can be stressful, but the more you do it, the less stressful it is, trust me!

I don't know why they didn't all show up?
I think byc was having issues again?

@karenerwin I would love to see images if you can share them with everyone? I would love to add them to our pages to help others as well. I should have taken more while I did assist. I am sure they will be fine with your care, just keep working on them, and you will get them! if you work with them, its like any therapy it takes time. sometimes some take longer than others.

Let me know about the egg assist, these are hard, I wonder if there is a genetic issue with this batch? or a feed/vit issue? what did the chart say for all these issues did you look yet? I cant remember I didnt have enough coffee
