That's why I only post pics at lunch and at the end of the day. Too hard from the phone :gig
What are you hatching in to have so many? You may have stated this earlier in the thread, but I'm a narcissist and I didn't get on the thread until this week, so if it's not about me I'm not reading it :old

This hatch today is all sold. Started with 50 RIR's, 50 Australorps, 56 barred rocks and 64 Ameraucanas. We'll see where we end up.

The silkies are from another breeder and they are for freshening up our Silkie breeding pen.

Ugh... I'm over here crying my bloody eyes out.... Because I was chopping onions for tomorrow. I really am grateful my inlaws are letting us live here while our house is being built, but this bloody kitchen has no ventilation whatsoever... Poor design. And I wear glasses so the fumes for the onions get caught behind the lenses LOL! I wound up taking my glasses off because my eyes hurt less even if I couldn't see. I still have all my fingers tho! Good thing I was taught to chop by my brother the chef... Not going to say i could do it blindfolded or anything because I really need my fingers, but yeah, pretty good at it.

My single surviving Araucana went into lockdown this morning. I think it will be a 21-22 day hatcher just because of the outage, and it looked a little behind.

Sorry about your tears...the onions always make me cry. Keeping our fingers crossed for your araucana. Keep us updated :)

Yes I am serious. I'm just tired. I've had some health problems. And still working full time. I just want to sleep Thursday and Friday. I have ground turkey. Maybe I should make tacos. I need an easy and simple Thanksgiving. Anyone have any ideas for simple and easy?
Already suggested, but buy an already roasted chicken or turkey breast, already prepared potato, squash, and then all you need is an other veggie to go with it. The only thing I'd splurge on to make from scratch is cranberry sauce, but... that's super easy! Cranberries, splash of apple juice, bit of orange zest, sugar and cloves. boil till they pop and get soft.

Mine is still solid according to DH. I will let in soak in a hot tub (aka kitchen sink) all day while I make pies. 24+ lbs. Butterball. Homegrown heritage next year.

I have friends who don't eat meat. They have tofurkey. I have not tried it. The first year (of many) she made it, she called and asked my opinion. It is this little meatloaf size thing and said it serves 12 to something. I said that was because everyone only needed a tiny bit....oh no, that's plenty for me. Lol

My SIL and BIL were vegetarians for a while. He'd bring his tempeh culture to continue perking on top of my fridge when they visited. Every now and then, they'd just have to break their veggie vows and go have a big Mac attack! When she went to the hospital to deliver her first baby, they sent her peas and carrots at every meal, "b/c she was a vegetarian!" Totally clueless dietician!

Mine were never frozen, they were harvested Friday.

3 Bourbon Red hens, 8 pounds each. Two will be traditionally oven roasted, and one roasted in a wood fired oven.

Hey guys how do build my chicks resistance to coccidia??? Safely?
I start them on a plug of sod from my yard after they've started eating well. Get them on fermented feed early on. Never had issues with it. If you do have issues with it... IDK.

I know exactly what you mean. I currently have;

1 splash ameraucana pullet
1 black copper maran pullet
1 blue wheaten maran cockerel
1 wheaten maran cockerel
2 dark brahma pullets
3 gold laced wyandottes (1 hen, 2 pullets)
1 silver laced wyandotte hen
1 buff orpington hen
1 welsummer hen
1 blue wyandotte pullet
1 red sex link (I think) pullet
2 silver phoenix pullets
1 serama pullet
1 serama cockerel

And yes they all have names ;)

Anyway, my coop is really nice but I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to make it work if I eventually want to keep 2 roosters. That is going to be a tough decision too because the 2 cockerel that I currently have (3 1/2 months old) are my buddies. I love them but I know I can't keep them all :( (My serama rooster is excluded from this discussion, he's staying. I only have 1 female serama and the two of them have tied the knot. The are attached at the wing. Wherever one is, the other is too.)

My current roo is a sweetie too. He loves his hens and I've never had an issue with him and my kiddos. Are you sexing your new hatchlings? I have guesses on mine based on their tail feathers (or lack thereof).

We almost never have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We'll smoke a ham, fry fish, Mexican food, prime rib, smoked goat, steaks, fried chicken, etc. This years feast is a couple big pots of chicken noodles and a side of mashed taters and hot bread. Homemade noodles and all. The 4 young light brahma cockerels didn't think it was a good idea though.....

Last litter I had .. last yr. Mom a Golden R. Dad a Standard Poodle. Yep, Golden Doodles. Love them.

These little ones are from her first litter. She has had two now, not sure if we will breed again.
Thinking not.

My hubby made a brooder box for them...Went through a lot of newspaper, and put several different clean blankets down by the little door way.
Thinking this will make a great brooder for some chicks this winter until they are feathered out enough to go outside.

I could hear them downstairs playing in this thing, but when they heard me coming down the stairs, it would get quiet, then, they would hurry over to the corner of it and be waiting. :) I miss puppies. :)
