Tip: Use an auger or post hole digger...easier, quicker, and takes up less room

you talk to one who grew up and lives in the mountains whites. I am well rehearsed in the ways of digging holes.... and feeding long pork pies

I think twister is out today

I decided to put this batch in egg cartons, with the bottoms cut out. I have hatched in egg cartons before 6/6, but at lock down I lay them on their sides. 2 thermometers to check for cold spots, and the water dish is the size I use until lock down (I just keep refilling as needed.) and a penny in dish, Sally's idea.

I put an iron nail in the broody's nest! I have read an old article saying so, but I am not sure if it is for good luck or what.

FWIW, my last hatch was 23/23, and at lockdown I left all eggs upright. I did it just to see if it made a difference, because it seemed that my most upright eggs always hatched. I have an Octagon 20, so if all eggs make lockdown, there's no room to lay them all down. 1 hatch isn't enough to say that it necessarily is the reason for the good hatch, but it certainly didn't hurt
