All the eggs in the R-com were set last Saturday and the eggs in the mind reader were set two weeks ago. But yeah, the air cells from the shipped eggs are all over the place! I am going to go by the four from my birds and the two that are not saddle shaped. Humidity is 40%. I will take a new picture when I re-arrange them tonight and mark cells so you can see what they've done in a week.

The mind reader is sort of fun. I didn't hook up the actual turner. I rotate the top around a few times a day and that makes the eggs roll. Just seemed kind of rough for Serama eggs to turn them too much that way with the turner motor. Seemed more gentle to do it by hand. It's holding at about 40% humidity also.
that was smart to turn by hand in it!

yeah I saw that one and a couple others, will see if I can get my dad or my friend to make it as me and power tools don't get along lol. was pretty upset loosing the hatch at lock down, stopped turning them at day 13 as per recommendation from here that does have a good hatch rate in the LG this time we didn't have any early quitters either. and helped instead of majority that made it to lock down only had 2 that were malpositioned this time.

Thinking might just make a box one and put screen on the top and a lid so they can just hatch and brood in it after the incubation
and brood?

Holy mackerel! I take the day to clean the barn and move hay and bedding, and this thread goes back to hatching, tips, tricks, and assists! Who would have thunk it?

are you sure your finished?

See you all in a couple. I'm headed back out to dig up a waterer in this chitty weather. Popped an elbow or cracked one under ground below the waterer off the main line. Got to get it fixed before the hard freeze and snow. Ughhhh, I'll be muddy wet and frozen here in a bit. Might take some fireball with me. LOL

better take fireball

For manual nest boxes the alighting rail of the lowest tier should not be more than 55 cm (22 in) from the floor. The bottom tieralighting rail should extend to a minimum of 10cm (4 in) beyond the second tier rail.

Allow 3 - 4 hens per nest for manual nest and maximum of 40 females per linear metre (12 perlinear foot) for mechanical nests

Got the new wifi modem hooked up and the new desktop, internet is running awesome now. took a bit of downtime but well worth it.

Hey fire, I was told that the modem we use for hughsnet should get updated by the manufacturer, I think its a manual thing, but ours was about 5 years old so I asked them what the best router would be for us and just got another, seems to be working much better. They said that with hughsnet running their updates and never updating routers it can actually suck your data. only way to check is to bypass router and check. @fire370

Wow, Sorry - I hate asking all these questions. I used an egg carton, cut holes in the bottom of each cup. But these are TINY silkie eggs. It's trying to hatch - if it was out on the ground, I think it would have popped the shell open, but since she's in the carton, it's like a barrier. Do I take the egg out of the carton? Should I have cut more off of the carton?

Thanks!

I honestly don't know, never used the cartons for my silkies. I would take it out, but that's just me. Anyone? A little help here please:confused:
