Good morning everyone! I just started watching this thread today and I ant wait to start learning from all you pros! I wasn't planning on raising chicks for another two months. But one of my hens went into brood a week ago and isn't giving up. So looks like I'm going to be a mom sooner then expected!

Random question as well. Can I place one or two other eggs other hens have laid and add them to her clutch?
You can but let her take them set them in front of her My broody pulled them under her that was cool to see also. and I would not do it if She has been sitting her clutch for more than a day.

Fabulous to know. Here I was thinking trying to add an egg to her clutch in the evening while sleeping/resting.

You could do that too.
But I wouldn't now.

I am just finishing a severly staggered hatch and the problem was live chicks and live egg have different needs from Mama. Does she stay and hatch the eggs or teach the chicks how to eat.

Thankfully I had another go Broody just before the first egg hatched. She was so early in her Broody cycle she got up off the chick and moved the eggs.

All eggs at once is what I have learned from this!

answering your question this morning on the fishing, I go just to sit and think, sip my coffee, listen to the world start up. Catch anything it goes back unless it's to badly injured ( hate that but it happens )

I'll be sure to see if they have any chain mail gloves in stock next trip I take to the farm store.

She is very serious, but does she know, that one of her "eggs" is a golf ball? Lol
