Quote: Excellent Ur! Maybe a little tired, but noticed something weird about the month old chicks I hatched. The ones that look like boys have Yellow shanks and the ones that look like girls have green shanks. Does anyone know of sex-linked crosses using leg color?
Hey guys I hope you have all been well. I have been too busy with chores to be on.
I need a second or first opinion. I cleaned caked on poo off of three hens. There were no missing feathers(except a few I cut) and no abnormal discharge. Most looked normal under it this one is a little red, but that is after warm water and an abusive washcloth. I am not sure what to diagnose. I have wormer, but no one has been wormed. Eight months old new run and coop in October after new tractor when I got my first chickens at the end of July. They use poop boards, get acv in their water, and weekly yogurt. It has been very wet here.
Check with your vet. I don't mean to say Kathy's mistaken, but I could've sworn I used Ivermectin to prevent heartworms, on the advice of the vet I knew. That's been a lot of years ago, though, so I could very well be wrong. Prior to that, I used Caracide, daily.
From what I understand, giving ivermectin to a dog with a large load of heartworms can kill it. My dog gets monthly ivermectin, but she has tested negative.

It sure would! The brooder is directly below my bed, and while nothing would likely bother them during the day... I dreaded the thought of hearing a commotion in the middle of the night, having to jump out of bed, run outside in freezing temps in my tidy whities, and deal with an intruder. Will be able to sleep a lot better now!!!
